Fans clown LeBron James for deleting 'LA Lakers making playoffs' related tweet: "LePiphany", "LeBacktrack"

Los Angeles Lakers v Dallas Mavericks
LeBron James could miss the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

LeBron James and the star-studded LA Lakers were basketball’s favorite punching bags after imploding and failing to make the playoffs. A few weeks after they were eliminated, James tweeted that he'd never miss the postseason again.

The four-time MVP’s post has now been deleted, which has led to some hilarious comments from fans.

The Lakers had James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard as superstars last season. They ended up with a 33-49 record and failed to win back-to-back games for more than three months. LA finished with a worse record than the LA Clippers who didn’t have Kawhi Leonard for an entire season.

Last season, the LA Lakers were 16-18 after 34 games. They are currently just 14-20, which puts them in 13th place in the tightly-contested Western Conference.

Darvin Ham’s squad started just 2-10, matching the worst start in franchise history. They also stumbled out of the gates in 1957-58 and 2015-16. Neither of those teams even won 20 games during the aforementioned seasons.

The Lakers started like they couldn’t hit their three-point shots to save their lives. They flirted with historically bad shooting numbers before improving over time. LeBron James bemoaned that the Lakers didn’t have “lasers” but vowed to compete despite their disadvantage.

True to his word, the Lakers went on an 8-2 tear to hike their record to 10-12 after a horrible 2-10 start. However, they have won just 4-12 games.

LeBron James has taken a backseat to Anthony Davis but AD is out for at least another three weeks due to a foot injury. The 18x All-Star has also missed eight games this season. Ham continued to manage James’ load and have sidelined him during the second leg of a back-to-back set.

The Lakers could make serious moves before the February trade deadline. However, GM Rob Pelinka could also stand pat as any trade they make may not turn them into legitimate playoff hopefuls.

LeBron James also deleted a tweet last season that didn’t age well

LeBron James has received a ton of flak for posting ill-advised tweets.
LeBron James has received a ton of flak for posting ill-advised tweets.

Last season, LeBron James bravely and boldly urged fans to keep up their energy while criticizing the LA Lakers. The post was eventually taken down when it seemed like the team wasn’t going anywhere.

James’ deleted tweet was hilariously roasted on social media. There was just no decent comeback for him after his team was eliminated from playoff contention.

The soon-to-be all-time scoring champion may have taken his lesson well and erased his “not missing the playoffs again” vow. Unfortunately, there’s just no easy way to take things down since he has millions of Twitter followers.

The season, though, is far from over. As bad as they've looked, they’re surely not worse than the 1957-58 and 2015-16 teams that couldn’t even win 20 games. But unless they get to the playoffs, James will certainly hear from fans who will not let him forget his deleted tweet.

LeBron James may also surprise basketball fans as he could make another daring claim. He will just have to make sure he can walk the talk.
