Earlier today, the NBA announced their decision to rename the MVP award to the Michael Jordan Trophy to honor past players in the league. After the unveiling, however, fans couldn't help but mock the design and the name of each trophy the league renamed.

Out of all the updated trophies in the association, the Kia MVP award was heavily noticed by fans. Typically, they make comments about the design and share their take on the league's move to rename the trophy. Some agreed, but a few didn't.

But most fans made fun of it and had other ideas of their own. Here are some of the best reactions from fans about the new Michael Jordan Trophy:

Aside from the MVP trophy, the league has redesigned and renamed most of their individual trophies as well. The Defensive Player of the Year award is now known as the Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy. The Rookie of the Year award is now the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy.

The Sixth Man of the Year award is now the John Havlicek Trophy. The Most Improved award is now the George Mikan Trophy. The league even has a new award this season, as they added the new Clutch Player of the Year, also known as the Jerry West Trophy.

Like Michael Jordan, the league is looking forward to honoring the past great players

The NBA is trying their best to honor the best players to ever play in the league. Last season, they started towards this direction during the 2021-22 NBA season. The association revealed two new postseason awards, the Western Conference MVP and the Eastern Conference MVP.

They named the award after Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, respectively. This is not the first time that this has happened. After Kobe Bryant's tragic passing, NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced their decision to name the All-Star game MVP award after the late great superstar.

It's a step towards the right direction as they seek to honor more legends in the league. Hopefully, the players they announced earlier won't be the last to be honored and recognized by the league. However, they could do a better job in designing, as fans are divided with how the trophy looks.
