On Tuesday's episode of TNT's "Inside the NBA," Jalen Rose, a former Most Improved Player of the Year, jokingly warned Shaquille O'Neal about singing along to Kendrick Lamar's track "tv off" during half-time of the LA Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns game. Lamar's song, "Not Like Us," is part of a lawsuit filed by Drake against Universal Music.

Drake's legal team alleged that the label manipulated the song's airplay to boost it through unfair means, as it is viewed as a diss track against Drake. So, as soon as the beat dropped, Shaq started vibing to it and yelled "Mustard!" However, Rose immediately interrupted the panel, saying:

"I don't know if y'all should be playing that Kendrick. Y'all want to get a lawsuit up here?"

Ernie Johnson Jr. responded to Rose's joke:

"Lawsuits don't scare us around here."

Shaq supported Johnson's statement by hooting for him.

Regarding the allegations, a spokesperson for Universal Music dismissed them as offensive and untrue and remarked that the fans choose the music they want to hear.

The reason behind Shaquille O'Neal yelling "Mustard" when Kendrick Lamar's song played

Shaquille O'Neal yelling "Mustard" during half-time is in reference to DJ Mustard, the production mind behind the "Not Like Us" diss track. In Lamar's song "tv off" from his album GNX, he dramatically shouts out "Mustard" for nearly five seconds. The instantly memorable phrase has since become a catchphrase and an instant hit among the masses.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake had a riveting beef, during which both artists released a few diss tracks aimed at each other. Lamar's "Not Like Us" was the nail in the coffin, as the rapper did not release any more diss tracks targeting Drake after that.

The beef gained worldwide attention, and many celebrities were asked about their stance on the musical feud. Shaquille O'Neal remained neutral and did not take any side. However, he was not impressed when Lamar received the Super Bowl halftime show privileges.
