Gilbert Arenas speculates Ime Udoka's coaching career after Boston Celtics scandal: "I don’t think no one’s going to f**k with him”

Embattled Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka has been suspended for the remainder of this season. The decision was made after it was revealed that Udoka had an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate that included unwanted advances. After the Celtics organization handed him a suspension, it seemed as though there was a chance Udoka could step in for the Brooklyn Nets.

With Steve Nash and the team parting ways on Nov. 1, the door was open for Udoka to resign from the Celtics, and step in for the Nets. Despite that, the talk was quickly put to rest as many pointed out that a suspended coach shouldn't have the freedom to sign with another team. With his suspension nearly halfway over, the countdown for Udoka's return is well underway.

The way former NBA star Gilbert Arenas sees things, however, teams are going to be hesitant to hire him as a result of the scandal. Given that the investigation into his misconduct revealed toxic examples of workplace culture, hiring Udoka could be seen as a red flag to potential employees.

"I don't think no one's going to f**k with him anymore because of what is possibly still out there," Arenas said.

After it was pointed out that fans may never know the identity of the married woman involved with Udoka, Arenas speculated that it was the wife of someone high up in the organization.

"Now (actress and former Udoka lover) Nia Long's her comment makes sense," Arenas said. "'How are you protecting this one and she's a cheater? She's cheating on her husband, too. Why am I being blasted and you're talking about protecting women? Why are you not protecting me and my family? Which is me and my son, but the adulterer is protected.
"You're not seeing or hearing her name.'"

What did Nia Long say about Ime Udoka's scandal?

As Arenas pointed out, Nia Long's statement about Ime Udoka's unfaithfulness included a shot at the Celtics organization. The way she saw things, the franchise should have reached out to her to offer their support during the difficult time.

“If you’re in the business of protecting women — I’m sorry, no one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK,” she said. “It’s very disappointing.”

So far, there has been no word yet on whether the organization has since reached out to her to offer their support. For her part, Nia Long has officially split with Ime Udoka, calling it quits on their 13-year-long relationship. The reports of the couple's breakup surfaced just last week, with the pair both still remaining committed to co-parenting their son.

The Celtics (22-10) have managed to flourish despite Udoka's absence from the sideline. The team is in second place in the Eastern Conference behind the Milwaukee Bucks, who boast a league-best 22-9 record. The two teams will square off on Christmas Day in a pivotal showdown.
