“He's a multi-millionaire, not a gangster” – Shannon Sharpe censures Kyrie Irving for defending Ja Morant 

While many have criticized Ja Morant for his off-court actions, one player has come to his aid. Kyrie Irving has never been afraid to say what's on his mind, and he recently spoke out for the Memphis Grizzlies star. He feels that there has been an "overload of judgment" throughout this entire ordeal.

A few weeks ago, Ja Morant was seen flashing a gun live on Instagram. This led to him being suspended and the All-Star guard seeking counseling. After nothing came about from the league's investigation, Morant was able to rejoin the Grizzlies.

During a recent episode of FS1's "Undisputed," Shannon Sharpe discussed Irving coming to the defense of Morant. He is puzzled by the remarks as he feels the media didn't get anything wrong in regard to this situation:

"What did we get wrong about Ja? Ja said he was pretending to be something he's not. He's a multi-millionaire, not a gangster."

After missing the past nine games, Morant is expected to make his return to the lineup this week.

Is Shannon Sharpe right about the Ja Morant situation?

Shannon Sharpe isn't wrong about Ja Morant's situation. While many chimed in with their thoughts, there wasn't much the media got wrong.

Among those to voice their thoughts on Morant's actions was Sharpe himself. Earlier this week, he claimed that the Memphis Grizzlies star didn't need to portray himself as something he wasn't. His desire to please the wrong people almost derailed his NBA career just as it was getting ready to take off.

The only thing that gives what Irving said any sort of credibility is the unknown parts. While the reporting was accurate, there was no telling what Morant was going through behind the scenes that led to his actions.

Achieving that level of fame and fortune can be tough, and Morant learned it the hard way. Luckily, he was able to get things under control before they got too out of hand.

Morant has a long career ahead of him, and seeking counseling was a very mature move. Getting help to get back on track might hurt him in the short term, but could be extremely beneficial in the long run.

Now that Morant has learned from his mistakes, he can shift his focus back to basketball and lead the Memphis Grizzlies into the postseason.
