On Patrick Beverley's return home to Chicago, he shared how his relationship with former Bulls star Derrick Rose helped him get settled in the city and focus solely on playing basketball. Beverley was signed by the Bulls after he the trade deadline this season.
Bulls insider KC Johnson had a chance to interview Beverley and his relationship with Rose.
"You’re talking about a relationship of, like, a brotherhood of me and D-Rose. . We talk all the time. His friends are my friends. My friends are his friends. 'I need a car, DRose. I need somewhere to stay. Give me a place. Anything you want, Pat.'" Beverley said.
"His girl flies in. He’s not there yet. She’s at my house. I’m not even at my house. Our brotherhood is way deeper than basketball. Like, we’re real brothers."
"To come here after him and kind of represent the city the right way and embrace it a little bit more, that’s been my thing. Just embrace it. That’s some advice he gave me, that he says he wished he would’ve done more, and that’s embrace the city. People that’s been here before me, I like to listen more than I like to talk. Embracing it is one of the words I heard."
Both veteran point guards are from the city of Chicago and have battled on the court since high school. Fans may not love Beverley as much as they love Rose, but his hometown is happy to have him around.
D-Rose played for the Bulls for seven seasons after he was drafted by the team with the first pick in 2008. The three-time All-Star spent the majority of his prime years in Chicago, even becoming the youngest MVP winner in 2010-11. However, injuries cut his prime years short, but he's still an effective role player.

NBA players used to fake injuries to avoid playing against Derrick Rose
A young, healthy Derrick Rose was one of the best players fans could ever watch. He was explosive, dynamic and unstoppable once he went past the 3-point arc. Even for All-Star guards like Rajon Rondo, Rose was a tough player to cover and slow down.
His former teammate, John Lucas III, shared a story about how point guards from opposing teams used to fake injuries to avoid playing against the 2011 MVP.
"I've seen people fake injuries, and it's some of your favorite players," Lucas said. "When D-Rose was the MVP, I've seen people catch the Rose flu, and we used to joke about it."
