Is LeBron James playing tonight against Clippers? Latest injury report on Lakers’ superstar ahead of matchup (April 5, 2023)

LeBron James' availability for the LA Lakers on Wednesday night against the LA Clippers is questionable.

LeBron James is questionable for the LA Lakers on Wednesday night against the LA Clippers. The four-time MVP played just his fifth game Tuesday night versus the Utah Jazz after a month-long absence due to a right foot injury.

The Lakers will also be playing the second leg of a back-to-back set when they take on the Clippers. James has been questionable in each of the past five games he has played, even when they were not on consecutive nights.

Moreover, the 19x All-Star played 38 minutes, the most since his return, in the Lakers’ 135-133 overtime victory in Salt Lake City. After the Lakers' win over the Jazz, head coach Darvin Ham wouldn't assure reporters of James' availability versus the Clippers.

Ham added that he will have to talk to the doctors and the team's training staff regarding "King James'" status. He insisted that as crucial as tonight's game against the Clippers will be, the Lakers will prioritize the health of their players.

The LA Lakers have forced LeBron James to sit out some of their games this season to manage his load. And it wasn't even before his foot injury that nearly ended his campaign.

If James had needed surgery, his season would have been all over. Given how serious that injury was, the Lakers will still be extra careful with how they proceed regarding his availability.

LeBron James just played his best game since returning from a 13-game absence

LeBron James averaged 20.0 points in his first four games. In Tuesday’s road victory over the Utah Jazz, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer dropped 37, including the go-ahead basket.

James muffed a point-block layup in the fourth-quarter that could have won them the game. He made up for that miss by dominating the Utah Jazz in the fourth-quarter.

The 19x All-Star dropped nine points in the extra period, including the go-ahead layup to carry his team to victory. James was so good that his teammates hilariously made GOAT noises as the superstar was interviewed in the locker room after the game.

“King James’” latest showing could not have come at a better time as the surging Lakers are looking to earn a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

During his struggles scoring the basket in his first four games, some fans thought that the four-time champ must have forced the issue. He didn't have his usual explosiveness, his rhythm was off and he was sometimes hesitant.

With the Lakers badly needing someone to finish off the Jazz in extra period, LeBron James willingly obliged.
