"Joker turned AD into a joke": Skip Bayless brings out the hammer on Anthony Davis for 17-point performance against Nuggets

Anthony Davis is coming in this season, signing a lucrative contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. As Skip Bayless was tuned in to the opening game of the NBA between the Lakers and Nuggets, the veteran journalist was quick on his social media trigger to put the team's loss to Davis.

In a social media post by Bayless, he pointed out that Davis got outplayed by Nikola Jokic.

"Joker tuned AD into a joke," said Bayless.

Going by the numbers, Anthony Davis finished the game with 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks. But the most glaring stat that was seen by critics was the 6-of-17 shooting from the field.

As compared to Nikola Jokic, the Serbian center was able to tally his first triple-double of 29 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists along with one block and one assist.

With the Denver Nuggets successful on their first game of the season, they will be taking on the Memphis Grizzlies on the road this coming October 27, Friday. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers will have a day of rest before battling the Phoenix Suns at the Crpyto.com Arena on October 26, Thursday.

Lakers could regret signing Anthony Davis to a $186 million extension

The Los Angeles Lakers believe that Anthony Davis is set to be the face of the franchise, especially since LeBron James is at the tail end of his illustrious NBA career. As the 8-time NBA All-Star struggles in his first game of the season against Nikola Jokic, there have been echoes that the Lakers may regret putting their faith in Davis.

In a story written by DJ Siddiqu of Forbes.com, he said that Davis is still not proven to lead a title contender in the NBA as an injury-prone player.

"The Lakers are committing major money to a player who is off of the court as much as he's on it and has yet to prove that he's a franchise player capable of leading a team to a championship as the No. 1 option," writes Siddiqu.

In beefing up the big man rotation and deepening their roster, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to sign Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes to help the team out just in case Davis goes down again with an injury.
