Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's dad, Vaughn Alexander, stunned Jeff Teague with a wild joke involving the former Hawks player's wife. On Friday, League Alerts shared a video from an upcoming episode of the "Club 520 podcast" on their Instagram account.
In the video, the league's newest MVP's father boldly declared to Teague while discussing his son's incredible season. Before making the joke, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's dad praised Teague as a good father to his child and a basketball dad.
Teague playfully responded by saying that he is "saving that greatness" while revealing that he is not a father yet. However, Vaughn made a savage comeback, joking about creating an MVP for Teague with the former player's wife.

"Don't worry man. All you gotta do is give me you girl and I'll breed her," Vaughn said. "I'mma train him everyday."

Teague was taken aback by the joke, telling the Thunder star's father to stop while laughing. He remarked that his wife wouldn't like that joke, after which Vaughn clarified that he was just "playing". Teague's co-host, Bishop B Henn, joined in on the joke, telling the former Hawks player that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's dad was teaching him how to make MVPs.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's dad is likely the proudest father in the world right now, as his son has cemented himself among basketball's greats this season by becoming the MVP. SGA also led his team to the NBA Finals this season, where he is facing the Indiana Pacers, led by another rising talent, Tyrese Haliburton.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's dad slams "free-throw merchant" claims surrounding the Thunder star
During his appearance on Teague's podcast, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's dad criticized fans who call his son a "free-throw merchant" or "foul baiter.” Vaughn Alexander explained his son's game, clarifying that his son is not just a player who seeks a trip to the charity line but plays within the rules of the game.
"Shai’s not really a free-throw merchant drawing fouls. He’s using angles and change of pace," Alexander said. "I’m going to up fake you, get you in the air, and you’re done. We all know that, what the f*** you doing in the air. Once you go up, I’m going up and you’re coming down on top of me."
“Am I drawing a foul? Well, yes, because the f****** rules of the game have fouls in them. Don’t want to draw no fouls? Then just change the rules, take all the fouls out of the game, and we’ll play f****** football-basketball."
Shai-Gilgeous Alexander is not the first player to use the rules in his favor. James Harden, Luka Doncic, Allen Iverson and many other great players have made drawing fouls a significant part of their game. SGA is averaging 7.9-8.88 free throw attempts this season while posting averages of 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game.
