Luka Doncic stresses what he told Kyrie Irving after taking 3-0 lead over Minnesota Timberwolves

Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks took a step closer to the NBA Finals with a notable win against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 of the 2024 Western Conference finals. The Texans took advantage of their home court and swept their opponents with a terrific fourth-quarter performance.

After the game finished, Luka Doncic spoke on the importance of getting one more win to close the deal and advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011.

"They try to double me, and they try to double Kai, and everybody touched the ball, and that just makes it better," Doncic said during his postgame interview with TNT. "We need one more - nothing is done. We just said, ‘One more.’" (:30 mark)

The Mavericks have picked up their game just at the right time, beating higher-seeded opponents without getting to a seventh game in the prior two rounds. They are one win away from sweeping the Timberwolves, who eliminated the defending champions Denver Nuggets in the second round.

Doncic and Kyrie Irving went off tonight, combining for 66 points (33 points apiece), including 14 from Irving in the fourth quarter. They became the first starting backcourt to score 30 points each in the same game three times in a postseason in 50 years.

Following a dramatic loss in Game 2, the pressure was on the Timberwolves for this match, but as the Mavericks got better, they crumbled in crunch time.

Luka Doncic's mysterious message to Anthony Edwards at the end of the game

Luka Doncic has been very vocal during this series, taunting Rudy Gobert after sinking the game-winning 3-pointer in Game 2. He took it to the next level today, going at Anthony Edwards at the end of the game.

When asked about what was said during that conversation, Doncic refused to share details.

“I can’t say," Luka replied to the question about his talk with Ant.

The Dallas Mavericks weren't anybody's favorites to reach the 2024 NBA Finals at the start of the season. They weren't considered a threat to the top teams in the West until after the trade deadline.

Luka Doncic has found the perfect partner in Kyrie Irving. After troubled stints in Boston and Brooklyn, the 2016 NBA champion appears to have found his groove. The Mavericks appear ready to make a statement by going all the way to claim the Larry O'Brien trophy this season with the help of Irving and Doncic's partnership.
