Paul George believes he is the best two-way small forward to play the game. During one of the most recent episodes of his podcast, "Podcast P with Paul George," the LA Clippers All-Star claimed to have a spot on the best two-way five-man lineup, featuring him, Gary Payton, Michael Jordan, Kevin Garnett and Hakeem Olajuwon.

Here's what George said about putting himself on that list:

“Healthy and locked in I think I’m up there with the best to play both ends”

PG13 is one of the most talented two-way players in the league. However, fans don't consider him at the level of the players he mentioned in his hypothetical two-way lineup. The NBA Twitterverse ruthlessly mocked the eight-time All-Star for his comments. One fan wrote:

Bro what?? Kawhi literally the SF on your current team. Like… what???

Paul George is far from cementing his spot among the all-time greats

Paul George's talent has never been in question. He has also produced goods on the court. George is a former Most Improved Player of the Year, has eight All-Star appearances, one All-NBA first and five All-NBA third-team selections and four All-Defensive team selections to his name.

George was also a top-three MVP candidate in 2019. However, the LA Clippers star hasn't had much collective success. George hasn't been as consistent as perennial MVP candidates, either. He was the main man with the Indiana Pacers between 2011 and 2017 and was the OKC Thunder's best player ahead of Russell Westbrook in 2019.

George joined forces with Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers in 2019, which was his best shot at winning a chip. They were considered the best team in the league that year, but the Clippers failed to get past the conference semis after they blew a 3-1 lead against the Denver Nuggets in the 2020 playoffs.

Paul George had a stellar postseason run the following year, but an injury to Kawhi Leonard limited the Clippers to a conference finals run. The 2021-22 season was an injury-riddled year for George as LA missed the playoffs after losing the play-in tournament.

This year presents a solid chance for George to win his first championship. However, he hasn't played like an MVP-caliber player. PG13 even claimed that he is a second fiddle on a championship team.

The notion of George being the alpha on a contending roster has changed drastically. It also hampered his status among the all-time greats, which explains why fans unhesitantly mocked George for his comments on being the best two-way small forward ever.
