Kendrick Perkins on LeBron James' road to greatness: “He knew, he was destined for greatness”

LeBron James' career has been legendary. Many basketball fans feel he has surpassed Michael Jordan as the greatest player of all time. His former teammate Kendrick Perkins recently shared how James has been able to achieve so much success in his career.

Perk explained that LeBron James knew he was capable of greatness at a young age.

"It's crazy to me. And when I look at LeBron's journey, and I look at what he's done and how he's prepared himself. He knew that he was destined for greatness. He knew that he was gonna be one of the greatest of all times.

"To take care of his body, to take care of his mental, to make sure that his off the court habits as far as being a professional was able to withstand is a beautiful thing to see," Perk said.

"What else can we really, really say? What can we say? Can we bring him up in a GOAT conversation? Because LeBron could've retired three years ago when he won a championship with the Lakers and nobody would've said a damn word. But he's still going to this day."

"What is left for him to achieve after he win the scoring title? What else? What can we say?"

Longetivity has defined James' career. He's been able to play at a high level since entering the league fresh out of high school.

LeBron James is less than 120 point from the scoring record

LeBron James is close to surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's coveted scoring record. He's now 117 points away from the milestone set by Abdul Jabbar in 1984. According to ESPN's Malika Andrews, the All-Star forward isn't going to be available for their game tonight against the Nets.

There's a belief that James could break the record against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 7. That is, if he stays healthy enough to play.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne shared a key factor in James' journey to becoming the league's top scorer.

"He just happens to be on the verge of breaking Kareem's all-time scoring record because he's played so well for so long. Which is also how Kareem got there." Shelburne said.
