LeBron James can register another mind-boggling record in his name tonight playing against LA Clippers: All you need to know

LeBron James' scoring rampage has become one of the most talked about topics in the NBA realm this 2022-23 season. One interesting stat about his scoring is that he's managed to score 40 points against every franchise in the league, except the LA Clippers.

The LA Lakers star is on his way to becoming the league's top all-time scorer in just a few games. Before doing so, he could set another mind-blowing record if he scores at least 40 points against their rivals on Tuesday night. Scoring at least 40 points against every team could look great in his resumé before becoming the best scorer.

James' former teammate, Kendrick Perkins, expects him to drop 40 points on Tuesday night.

"I'm going with Bron scoring 40," Perkins said. "He's gonna have 40 on the dot tonight. Look, Ty Lue has owned LeBron James when it comes down to this head-to-head matchups. Forget LeBron vs the Clippers, this is LeBron vs. Ty Lue. And I know LeBron: He has that competitive nature, and he has that killer mindset."

In his career, James has averaged 24.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 40 games against the Los Angeles counterpart. This season, James has also had three games where he has scored at least 40 or more points. Additionally, he's on a current scoring outburst in his last six games.

LeBron has averaged 33.2 points, 10.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists in his last six games. He's also making efficient shots, shooting 49.7%. His 3-pointers aren't as reliable, however. The four-time MVP is only making 25.6% of his 3-pointers in his last six games.

LeBron James is close to breaking the all-time scoring record

Coming into the league, no one knew that LeBron James would become the league's top scorer. He's always been more of an all-around player who prefers to pass and rebound more than score. But due to how the Lakers star's career has panned out, he's done a lot more scoring than anyone could ever think of.

The record, currently held by the iconic Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, is 38,387 points. James, who's at the No. 2 spot, has 38,164 points.

If James plays every game and maintains his 29.8 ppg scoring average, James will be the No. 1 scorer before the All-Star Game. The Lakers have 12 more games before the break. He needs 224 points to surpass Abdul-Jabbar. So, he would need eight games at his current pace to take the top spot.

It's also been reported that the league could hold a special ceremony to honor LeBron during the All-Star Game.
