LeBron James-Michael Jordan comparisons ship "has sailed" due to Jordan having better peak performance, says NBA analyst

NBA analyst Max Kellerman believes that the debate about who is better between LeBron James and Michael Jordan is already over.

LeBron James, easily one of the greatest players the league has ever seen, has often been heralded as Michael Jordan’s heir in the game. However, quite a few fans believe that Jordan was the better player due to a number of reasons.

James has had a great few years as a 30+ player, but has still not been able to match the six rings that the Chicago Bulls legend won. Jordan also showed a pronounced dominance that has proved difficult for LeBron to replicate, especially in recent years.

Max Kellerman has often made the comparison, and has been found with varying opinions at different points of times. While LeBron will surely end up with a number of scoring and playmaking records, Kellerman believes he is still unable to match Jordan’s peak performances.

“That Jordan ship has sailed but, you know, him and Kareem is a good comparison. LeBron is a better old player than Michael Jordan was and he's had better longevity for sure but peak performance, Michael attained a higher level of peak performance.”

While there are plenty of people who might beg to differ, the LA Lakers' current struggles suggest otherwise. LeBron James is still putting up phenomenal numbers and is a lone spark in what is proving to be a difficult season.

LeBron James is not happy with how things are going with LA Lakers

Despite the team's struggles and LeBron's vocal desire for more help, the Lakers have been unable to make any significant moves ahead of the trade deadline. The team is currently looking desperate with respect to the Playoff picture, and have been seeking to add a third star to their roster to help them contend again. However, their attempts to do so through trades have been unsuccessful.

The Lakers front office and James have had differing opinions on potential trades, with LeBron pushing for more immediate help and the front office being more patient and focused on long-term assets. LeBron has been vocal about his frustration with the lack of trades the Lakers have made and the current status of the team.

The 38-year old has publicly stated that the team needs to do something to improve the roster if they want to make a run at the championship. While the Lakers have some valuable assets, they are unwilling to part with them in exchange for short-term help.
