Luka Doncic funded a special day for patients at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Doncic made around 200 patients happy by giving them toys, clothes and other items. The event was also full of activities for children recovering from various illnesses.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, the Dallas Mavericks superstar was happy that he was able to give back to the community around the holidays. Doncic also praised the children for staying strong amid their battles. The event was made possible through Doncic's own foundation.

"I hope this makes them happy and puts a smile on their face," Doncic said of the afternoon. "They are so brave and strong, and I want them to know I'm thinking of them during the holidays and wishing them all the best in the New Year."

Luka Doncic was unable to attend the event, as he was preparing for the Dallas Mavericks' matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Doncic's girlfriend, Anamaria Goltes, was present and participated in gift-giving and other activities.

According to Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News, Doncic and his foundation are planning to host another event at two children's hospitals in Slovenia. The programme will help around 150 kids in less than a week before Christmas.

Doncic started giving back to his native country last year by handing out toys and Jordan Brand gear to pediatric patients. Despite not being present at the event, he communicated with the children via video message.

"These children are going through so much," Doncic said. "I just hope this gives them a little bit of happiness during these difficult times. I hope they feel better soon so they can get back to doing what they love. I'm thinking of them, and I wish the children and their families a happy New Year in 2022."

Luka Doncic's efforts to give back to the community, whether in Dallas or back in Slovenia, haven't gone unnoticed. The Dallas Mavericks superstar was among the finalists for the 2022 NBA Cares Community Assist Award, per Mavs.com.

The honor is given to players who help make an impact in their community. Doncic's teammate Dwight Powell took home the award in 2020 along with four others. The 23-year-old guard helps the community through his own foundation, as well as the Mavs Foundation.

Pat Connaughton of the Milwaukee Bucks took the award last season. With Doncic's continuous efforts to help a lot of children, it won't be surprising if the Slovenian gets nominated for the award again.
