This just in! Markelle Fultz has been listed as available for the Orlando Magic to make his highly anticipated season debut on Wednesday night against the Atlanta Hawks. The sixth-year guard out of Maryland was sidelined while he recovered from a fractured toe.

News broke Tuesday morning through Shams Charania that Markelle Fultz was available to make his season debut on Wednesday night!

The injury, which occurred during the preseason, marked the latest setback in a series of unfortunate events for the Magic guard. Back in December of 2020, Markelle Fultz suffered a torn ACL that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

After playing in just eight games that season, Fultz ultimately missed all of 2020 before returning midway through the 2021-22 season in February of 2022.

This season, his return was anticipated. However, the fractured toe sustained in the preseason delayed his revenge tour. Initially, it was expected that he would be missing an additional week. However, it seems his recovery is ahead of schedule. Prior to his ACL tear two seasons ago, Fultz was averaging a career-high 12.9 points per game, giving Orlando fans hope for his return.

Below you can see some footage from him ramping up during shootaround this week.

Several seasons ago, Markelle Fultz signed a three-year, $50 million contract with the Orlando Magic as part of his Rookie Extension. With a guaranteed $35 million over the next three years, Fultz will become an unrestricted free agent for the 2024-25 season.

The contract saw him paid $16.5 million last season, despite the fact that he was unable to play for most of the year. If he can return to his prior form and produce at a career-best level like he did prior to his ACL tear, the contract could be a great one for the Magic. At just 24 years old, the former number-one overall pick still has plenty of time to return to form and evolve his game.

Of course, this isn't the first time Markelle Fultz has had to return from an injury. Prior to his ACL tear several seasons ago, Fultz struggled with a pretty significant shoulder injury. The injury is one of the rarest in basketball, and something that is reportedly undetectable by an MRI. As a result, his shooting form noticeably changed as his production numbers from beyond the arc struggled to cross 30%.

Given how much Fultz has gone through in his short career, it's no secret that he's proven his mental toughness. When he returns this week from a fractured toe, the eyes of the NBA community will be on him.

Below you can see some of his highlights.
