NBA Rumors: Top 3 potential landing spots for John Wall after being waived by Houston Rockets

John Wall has been waived by the Houston Rockets.

After a rather successful time with the LA Clippers, John Wall was traded to the Houston Rockets, before being waived by the franchise.

Wall signed with the Clippers in July 2022 after being bought out by the Houston Rockets a month earlier. He started just three games for the team, averaging 11.2 points and 5.2 assists in 22.2 minutes. After being traded back to the Rockets, the point guard was waived three days later.

John Wall has plenty left in the tank and could prove useful for any contender looking to add depth to their lineup. There are multiple teams in the NBA currently that could use his help.

This article looks at the top three potential landing spots for the 32-year-old free agent.

#1 Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the many NBA title contenders whose chances could improve with John Wall. The Bucks are short at the guard positions and have had consistent injury troubles. Jrue Holiday has been a consistent performer, but he has lacked a steady partner.

With John Wall in the lineup, they will have a legitimate all-round threat who can be a playmaker and a scorer. Wall might well end up snagging a starting role at the Milwaukee Bucks and could be a useful addition to the team.

#2 Boston Celtics

Another team that can make do with some top-quality depth at the guard position are the Boston Celtics. The situation has become demanding due to Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart's injuries.

Acquiring a former All-Star who can still play at a high level will allow the Boston Celtics to distribute the bulk of their attacking responsibility among Derrick White, Sam Hauser and Malcolm Brogdon. It will be interesting to see whether John Wall can hold on to a starting role in a team that has looked impressive thus far.

#3 LA Lakers

For the LA Lakers, D’Angelo Russell seems to have hit the ground running and is already a starter alongside Dennis Schroder. Schroder's shooting has been inconsistent this season and doubts remain over his ability to deliver if they make the playoffs.

He has been in a purple patch the past two games but his inconsistency has contributed to the Lakers’ poor run this season. With John Wall as a backup, the LA Lakers will have a former All-Star whose numbers prove that he is still able to do the job for his team. Wall looks capable of slotting into the starting 5 for the LA Lakers for the rest of the season as well.
