Steve Kerr looked unflappable along the sidelines watching his team lose for the 10th straight game on the road. The Golden State Warriors were right in the thick of things before eventually fading in the last minute of the game.
During the post-game interview, Kerr was his usual positive self regarding how his team played and how the future looks:
“Proud of our guys’ effort. We had our chances, we had several shots in the last couple of minutes to take the lead and just couldn’t get anything to go. Love the effort, love the energy. These guys were fighting and I believe in them.
“I believe something good is going to happen with this group. We’re just gonna keep fighting and keep moving forward.”
Steve Kerr had to love the grit and resilience of the Golden State Warriors, led by Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. They didn’t have the suspended Draymond Green who’s serving a one-game suspension for reaching 16 technical fouls for the season versus the LA Clippers.
The defending NBA champs also didn’t have Andre Iguodala, who is recovering from left wrist surgery. Andrew Wiggins missed yet another game for personal reasons. Gary Payton II remains out with an adductor strain.
Kerr’s squad faced a near fully healthy Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. For most of the night, the Warriors managed to keep the crowd’s noise down until the final buzzer sounded.
The Hawks were just leading 120-119 after Steph Curry hit a layup with 2:12 left in the fourth quarter. A three-pointer by the Hawks pushed the lead to 123-119 before Curry was forced into an error that led to a Trae Young fastbreak.
The 10th straight loss on the road is tied for the longest under the Steve Kerr era for the Golden State Warriors. They also had the same embarrassing record back in 2019-20 when they finished with the worst win-loss slate in the NBA with 15-50.

Steve Kerr was unfazed by the misses from three-point distance, particularly late in the game. He had this to say about those crucial clunkers:
“Yea. We got Steph and Klay shooting threes, we’ll live with that all the time. Donte had a good look too.”
The Golden State Warriors shot just 11-40 from deep tonight, something that didn’t even bother Kerr the slightest.
What should concern him is their penchant for committing turnovers. The Bay Area team, coming into tonight’s game, is averaging 16.3 turnovers per game. Only the Houston Rockets are worse than them in the entire NBA.
Steve Kerr sometimes looked away when the Warriors coughed up the ball. They had 17 in total today, with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combining for 12 of them. The Hawks, as a unit, committed just 11 for the entire game.
Even when healthy, turnovers have been a recurring team this season. Kerr has called out his team a few times for some bone-headed plays. The Warriors will have to clean it up or Kerr’s prediction of good things going to come will be nothing but empty words.
