SPOTTED: Karl-Anthony Towns pictured in Timberwolves gear after getting traded to New York Knicks 

The New York Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns in a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday pending the NBA's approval. However, Towns is still in Minnesota and was spotted at the National Sports Center in Blaine on Friday to support the community.

In a post on Reddit, a fan snapped a photo of Towns wearing Timberwolves gear at the National Sports Center. It's a multi-sport complex in Blaine, a 20-minute drive from Minneapolis. Most events held there are soccer games involving kids and teens.

Karl-Anthony Towns has been in Minnesota since getting drafted first overall by the Timberwolves in 2015. Towns has had a positive impact on the community there, so it was a shock for fans to see him get traded to the Knicks after the Timberwolves made the Western Conference Finals last season.

One fan also posted a photo of herself with a Timberwolves gear-wearing Towns on Instagram.

"Ran into KAT today. He was so personable and nice! Thank you for everything. Minny is gonna miss you a lot," @jennifer_een wrote.

Despite the stunning nature of the trade, Towns was at the Timberwolves practice facility hours after the deal was announced. He was shooting jump shots with his father helping him work out.

The 28-year-old big man was just entering his prime but it was an understandable trade for the Timberwolves given that they owed him $224 million in the next four seasons. Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported that Towns would have been tougher to move if he got injured this season or if Minny failed to replicate its success.

Karl-Anthony Towns has been with the Minnesota Timberwolves for nine seasons and they are coming off a trip to the Western Conference Finals. However, the Timberwolves traded him to the New York Knicks before they tried to replicate their success next season.

On the other hand, the Timberwolves shed Towns' huge salary while acquiring a tough player like Randle and a shooter like DiVincenzo. They still have Naz Reid to fill KAT's role, giving the franchise a combination of lineups led by Anthony Edwards.
