Steph Curry revealed that he's just starting to recover from his shoulder injury and is "nowhere near" ready to pick up a basketball. Curry suffered the injury on Dec. 14 against the Indiana Pacers and was diagnosed with a left shoulder subluxation or partial dislocation.
In an interview during the TNT broadcast of the Golden State Warriors' game against the New York Knicks, Curry provided an update on his recovery. The Warriors superstar explained that he's still in the early stages and could be out until after the New Year.
"I haven't had an injury like this in the shoulder and it's kind of a wait and see approach," Steph Curry said. "I'm still in the early healing process so I'm nowhere near even like picking up a basketball yet. ... It'll be a few weeks. I'm thinking maybe til the New Year and I'll start to key in on a timeline after that."
Steph Curry suffered the injury last week while trying to swipe the ball from the Indiana Pacers' Jalen Smith. Curry was later diagnosed with a partially dislocated left shoulder and was ruled out for several weeks, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Golden State Warriors didn't give any further details about Curry's injury. The also didn't give any timeline for his recovery. Curry has been the best player by far for the defending champs this season. His absence makes it more difficult for the Warriors to get out of their slump.
Warriors fall to Knicks at MSG with Steph Curry on the sidelines
Steph Curry was on the sidelines of Madison Square Garden as the Golden State Warriors were blown out by the surging New York Knicks. Curry missed his third straight game due to a left shoulder injury he suffered last week.
The Warriors looked abysmal in their 132-98 loss to the Knicks. Jordan Poole was the lone bright spot with 26 points in 29 minutes. Klay Thompson only had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Draymond Green added seven points, five boards and seven dimes.
Meanwhile, six Knicks players scored in double figures led by Immanuel Quickley, who had 22 points, four rebounds and two assists off the bench. Jalen Brunson scored 21 points and added five assists, while Quentin Grimes contributed 19 points.
The Knicks are now on an eight-game winning streak, which is the current longest streak in the NBA. The Warriors, on the other hand, dropped to 15-17 on the season and are 3-15 on the road. They will face the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday before coming home for their Christmas Day showdown against the Memphis Grizzlies.
