"Tf he catch a stray for": NBA fans in splits after 'F**k Trae Young' chants break out outside MSG following win vs 76ers

Trae Young caught a stray after the Knicks' Game 1 win over the Sixers on Saturday.

Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks caught a stray from New York Knicks fans following their team's Game 1 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Young has been public enemy number one for the Knicks in the last three years. However, some fans were baffled about why the fanbase needed to bring up the Hawks sharpshooter.

The Knicks earned a hard-fought 111-104 win at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. They are up 1-0 in the first-round playoff series against Philly, with Game 2 at home on Monday night.

A lot of Knicks fans celebrated the victory outside MSG when a "F**k Trae Young" chant broke out. It was a good time in New York, as they got the win knowing Young, and the Hawks took an early vacation after losing to the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Fans on social media were in splits after New York chanted an explicit at Trae Young. Some fans found it funny that the Hawks All-Star caught a stray while possibly on vacation somewhere.

"Tf he catch a stray for?" one fan wrote.
"Them New Yorkers never forget," another one commented.
"Man is not even in the playoffs but still getting hit," this fan remarked.

Hawks fans defended their best player and mocked the New York Knicks fans for having a space for Young in their heads rent-free.

"Trae owns a lot of real estate in NY," one fan claimed.
"The lasting affect of Trae Young owning this franchise will be studied in history books in the future," a Hawks fanpage argued.
"New York Knicks fans in a nutshell. Can’t let go of 2021," another fan wrote.

Why do Knicks fans don't like Trae Young?

Trae Young became public enemy number one in New York after helping the Atlanta Hawks eliminate the Knicks in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs. Young and the Hawks came into the series as the fifth seed, so they didn't have homecourt advantage.

However, Young had other plans and turned Madison Square Garden into his home in that series. He hit the game-winning floater with 0.9 seconds left in Game 1 to give the Hawks the win, shushing the crowd afterward.

"Ice Trae" then put the Knicks to sleep in Game 5, hitting the dagger 3-point shot to eliminate them from the playoffs. He then bowed in the middle of the court, taunting the crowd, who showered him with boos.

Young even doubled up by showing up on WWE SmackDown at MSG a few months after eliminating the Knicks. The Knicks fanbase never forgot what happened, which leads to a lot of boos whenever Young visits New York.
