George Karl suggests trading LeBron James to Denver Nuggets after dismaying stint with LA Lakers: “The Denver Nuggets should trade for LeBron James today”

The LA Lakers are off to an 0-4 start. After going a disappointing 33-49 last season, the hope was that this year would be different. So far, it's been worse. After Wednesday night's 110-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers are still winless.

It marks the first time since LeBron James' rookie season in 2003-04 that his team has started 0-4. With the way that the roster is currently constructed, change is going to be required. But where do those changes come from?

Veteran guard Russell Westbrook has been a popular name in potential negotiations. Some have even said that fellow superstar Anthony Davis shouldn't be ruled out. But former NBA oach George Karl has a different idea.

Karl took to social media today to voice a shocking opinion. The legendary coach said that the Denver Nuggets should be aggressive and trade for James. While many have said that a potential trade for James is unlikely, Karl believes otherwise.

It's always fascinating to consider some hypothetical trades. At the same time, not many of them involve LeBron James. It's unlikely that the LA Lakers would be willing to move James, especially after rewarding him with an extension this offseason. Also, his pursuit of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record is something the franchise can promote.

But there's some intrigue to the possibility. Since LeBron signed an extension this offseason, he's unable to be traded until Feb. 18. If James was to somehow end up with the Nuggets, it would give them a sizeable boost.

LeBron would be able to slide alongside superstar big man Nikola Jokic, giving the Nuggets a dangerous playmaking combination. Due to LeBron's age, it's unlikely that any potential trade would cost superstar assets in exchange.

That would most likely mean that point guard Jamal Murray would be off the table in talks. The trio of Jokic, LeBron and Murray would give the Nuggets plenty of firepower in the Western Conference.

Denver has done a fantastic job of building their roster over the years. They've added young pieces such as Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon and Bones Hyland. Any deal for Los Angeles would hopefully involve one of those names at least. It would be a long shot, but the idea of LeBron suiting up with Denver would be a heck of a shift in power in the Western Conference.
