Patrick Beverley gave his response to Ja Morant's latest incident.

This month Ja Morant was suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies once again after an Instagram Live video showed him flashing a gun. Morant was suspended earlier this season in March after a similar video was posted on his Instagram account from a Denver nightclub.

NBA player and avid trashtalker Patrick Beverley recently spoke out on Morant’s incidents. Beverley made the comments on his podcast “The Pat Bev Show with Rone”. Beverley said Morant is lucky to still be in the league after his recent mishaps.

“All sides, it’s unfortunate as f*** bro. They about to give that boy some real suspension time,” Beverley said. “First, that was a slap on the wrist. That sh*t would’ve happened 15 years ago, 20 years ago; this MF out the league because of that. You know what I’m saying?"

Beverley referred to past times when David Stern was the commissioner and often struck down harsh punishments for poor player behavior. Gilbert Arenas was famously suspended almost an entire season for bringing guns into the locker room during Stern’s era.

Beverley reiterated how this was the more common punishment for players who were caught in gun-related incidents.

"Like obviously times have changed,” Beverley said. “You know I ain’t never mention nobody’s names, but it’s MFs getting caught with dealing with guns and weapons and that type of sh*t, and they was out the league 15-20 years ago. So just the fact it was eight games, all right, cool. But they got to do something now."

How long could Ja Morant be suspended for?

Ja Morant was suspended indefinitely by the Grizzlies. The league office has not yet issued a punishment following Morant’s recent video. He was suspended eight games for his first incident in March.

He reportedly may be facing a 25-game suspension from the NBA. Commissioner Adam Silver said he was shocked by the second video and warned a harsher punishment was coming for Morant after the league concludes an investigation.

Ja Morant is set to make $33.5 million next season. He was in line to make more if he would have been selected to an All-NBA team.
