Top 10 players with the most All-Star votes in NBA history

2012 NBA All-Star Game
NBA legends Kobe Bryant and LeBron James

NBA All-Star votes have become more popular than ever in the modern era, thanks to innovative ideas from the league that allow fans to vote on Twitter. The league has also introduced '2-for-1' and '3-for-1' days where one vote can count for either two or three votes.

Combined with the fact that beginning in 2017, the NBA has announced vote numbers for all players and not just the top vote-getters, it is easy to see why modern players have received far more total All-Star votes.

LeBron James is the all-time leading vote-getter. James has led the league in votes over nine seasons, including each of the past six seasons. He is followed by Kobe Bryant, who led the league in votes over four seasons.

Kevin Durant is the next player to appear. However, unlike the previous two greats, Durant has never led the league in fan voting. He finished second twice. Durant's former teammate Steph Curry is fourth on the list, with just one first-place finish, all the way back in 2015.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Shaquille O'Neal occupy the fifth and sixth spots, respectively. Neither player has ever led the league in fan voting. However, Giannis finished second twice while Shaq finished second on five occasions. Dwyane Wade, who also never had a first-place finish, is next. Wade came in second in voting four times.

Three legendary power forwards closed out the list as Kevin Garnett, Anthony Davis, and Tim Duncan occupied the final three spots in the top ten. Garnett led the league in fan voting in 2008. However, Davis and Duncan have not accomplished the feat. Davis, who entered the top-ten thanks to the first return of fan voting in 2022-2023, finished third in 2015, while Duncan had two fifth-place finishes.

First return of NBA All-Star votes announced

The first return of NBA All-Star votes was announced on Thursday. LeBron James and Kevin Durant are once again the leading vote-getters in their respective conferences, while Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving are the leading vote-getters in the backcourt of each conference.

If the vote were to close today, fans would like to see James, Curry, Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic, and Luka Doncic start in the Western Conference, with Durant, Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Donovan Mitchell starting in the Eastern Conference.
