The NBA season is fully underway and some of the top players in all of basketball have been showing out this season. With guys like Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and many others, some players have indeed shown that they have the potential to win the MVP award this season and also possibly carry their teams to a championship.

We're going to break down our top five most impressive NBA players through the first week of the season.

Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum has played extremely well for the Boston Celtics this season and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. The one thing we would love to see him figure out a bit more is his 3-point shooting this season as he's only shooting 33.3% from 3-point range in the first three games of the season. However, he's stilll shooting 58.7% from the field and is averaging 34.7 points per game.

Luka Doncic

Potential MVP Award winner Luka Doncic has been an absolute force for the Dallas Mavericks to start the season and he's another guy who has a legitimate chance of carrying his team to a championship and an MVP this season. Dallas has played only two games this season, losing one to Phoenix and beating the Memphis Grizzlies by a ton in their second game. In those two games, he had 35 and 32 points for an average of 33.5 points per game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued to show that he and the Milwaukee Bucks are going to once again be one of the best teams in all of basketball and have a legitimate chance of winning another NBA title this season.

He's been an absolute force on the offensive and defensive side of the basketball and that's never going to change.

He's currently averaging 32.5 points per game after a 44 point performance against the Houston Rockets in Milwaukee's second game of the season. He's shooting 70.3% from the field and 50% from 3-point range with six shot attempts on the year.

Donovan Mitchell

One player that people were questioning coming into the season was Donovan Mitchell. He's been all that the Cleveland Cavaliers could ask for throughout the first few games of the season and it's showing that he could be that missing piece to this team to win a championship.

He's scored at least 30 points in every single game so far for an average of 33.3 points per game and is shooting 49.3% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range. If he can continue doing what he's done when the Cleveland Cavaliers are fully healthy, this is a team that does have the potential to sneak out of the Eastern Conference.

Ja Morant

Ja Morant has shown the ability to lead a team to one of the best records in all of basketball throughout the regular season, and his last step this year is hopefully doing the same thing come playoff time.

If the first few games of the season are any indication, he has more than enough to carry the Memphis Grizzlies to a finals appearance this season. He's currently averaging 34.3 points per game and shooting over 54% from the field while shooting 57.1% from three-point range. If that three-point shot continues to be in efficient form, it's going to be nearly unstoppable to defend him as that was the one thing in his game that he needed to improve on coming into the year.
