Longtime ESPN reporter and NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has officially retired from the media game after he announced it on Wednesday. Basketball fans were surprised by the news from the famed journalist as Woj had become a well-known figure in the realm of professional sports.

With his retirement, there were a few NBA stars who thanked him for his work with ESPN and Yahoo! Sports.

However, one story from Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton during his guest appearance at "Podcast P with Paul George" in July 2023, resurfaced. Haliburton hilariously recalled the events that transpired leading to him getting traded to the Pacers.

During the 2021-22 NBA season, the 6-foot-5 point guard was with the Kings, the team that drafted him. He wanted to stay in Sacramento and was hoping to be part of the team that could potentially turn things around for the franchise at that time.

"In my mind, being a naive 21-22 year old, I was like, 'Pfft. They not trading me for nobody,'" Haliburton recalled. "Around the deadline there was like a rumor that the Sixers had turned down a deal. The Kings would've got Ben [Simmons] and I would've went to Philly."

A deal eventually did go down, and Woj was the one who dropped the bomb on his trade to the Pacers.

"Aaron [Mintz], my agent, he was messing with me a little bit about it but like, we would just kinda laugh about it. And he called me that morning and was like, 'Yo, I think you're about to get traded.' And I'm like, 'Yo, fam. We're playing Minnesota tonight, stop playing.' So I'm like, 'Who could it be?' In my head, I had no clue.
"Woj is the one who told me, 'I think it could be Indy.' I'm like, 'Yo, fam. How are you on the phone right now? How do you know?'"

In the end, the Woj bomb worked out well for Haliburton as he's now the face of the Indiana team and has emerged as an All-Star.
