Video: Charles Barkley shamelessly admits relishing a dozen of donuts in a single day

It's no secret that Charles Barkley loves food. Throughout his time in the league, countless stories emerged as a testament to Barkley's love for all things food-related. Several years ago, the Hall of Famer went so far as to say that he would go on a hunger strike until the Lakers won a game. Fortunately, it was just a joke considering the Lakers lost for a straight week.

Barkley's love for food dates back to his college days. Leading up to the draft, "The Round Mound Rebound" learned that the Philadelphia 76ers would be unable to pay him what he wanted. As a result, Barkley immediately began to gain back all the weight the team wanted him to lose pre-draft. Over the course of just one week, Barkley gained back 20 pounds he had previously lost.

During a recent interview, Barkley opened up on a time he ate a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. Of course, not to be hypocritical, who would pass up on a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts?

“I broke it up into three meals," Barkley said. "It was one Sunday morning and I said, ‘I just want some Krispy Kreme.’ So, I ordered a dozen, and I says, ‘Imma break it up into three meals.’ That’s all I ate the whole day.

"I had some restraint. I ate some about 9 o’clock in the morning, I ate some about 2 o’clock in the afternoon and I ate about 7 o’clock at night. It was a great meal day.

The classic story came on a recent episode of "The Steam Room," featuring his fellow "Inside the NBA" host Ernie Johnson.

Charles Barkley, of course, has an undeniable love for Krispy Kreme. It's a relationship that has been well-documented. Fans may remember nearly a decade ago when the "NBA on TNT" crew celebrated Barkley's 53rd birthday by gifting him 53 boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts. Although there's no word on how long it took him to eat them all, it did help him refine his tasting skills.

Two years later, Barkley's love for Krispy Kreme was put to the test when the "Inside the NBA" team blindfolded him. With a spread of donuts in front of him, Barkley was able to pick out the classic Krispy Kreme glazed donuts without fail.

Considering that Barkley's love for Krispy Kreme dates back many years now, it seems as though a partnership is a likely next step.

Barkley, of course, recently received a whopping contract extension from TNT totaling hundreds of millions. With his next 10-plus years locked down, Barkley could of course look to purchase a Krispy Kreme franchise in the future.
