Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant brought out some R&B vibes over the weekend as he jammed to Trey Songz classics in a series of Instagram stories. During a car ride, the high-flying hooper gave fans a glimpse of his R&B playlist, singing along to the tunes.

For some fans, hearing "Ja Morant" and "Instagram" might bring back memories of his controversial gun incidents, but this time it was all about the music for the Grizzlies guard.

Ja Morant showcased his vocal skills, singing Trey Songz hits like "Fumble" and "I Need A Girl." You can watch him in action below:

Trey Songz, known for hits like "Slow Motion," "Na Na" and "Bottoms Up," has been entangled in legal issues, facing charges related to physical and sexual assault.

Morant himself has had trouble with the NBA over his Instagram activities. He faced suspensions following two incidents where he was seen flashing a firearm on social media.

The first occurred in March 2023, when he was seen in an Instagram Live session at a nightclub near Denver, leading to an eight-game suspension.

The second incident happened two months later when Morant was recorded displaying a gun inside a vehicle, resulting in a 25-game suspension leading into the 2023-24 season.

In January this year, Morant suffered a torn labrum that kept him sidelined for the second half of the season. He played in just nine games last season, posting averages of 25.1 points, 8.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds.

Due to his absence and other injuries affecting the Grizzlies, the team missed the playoffs for the first time in three years, finishing with a 27-55 record.

Ex-DPOY says Ja Morant shows flashes of former NBA MVP

Former Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Star Joakim Noah said Ja Morant’s game has similarities to that of Derrick Rose, his former Chicago Bulls teammate who won the MVP in 2011.

In an interview with Scoop B. Robinson, Noah acknowledged the similarities between the two explosive guards.

“I see it. I see a lot of similarities,” Noah said (per ScoopB.com).
“They’re definitely hood favorites. It’s cool. I think there’s similarities in their explosiveness. Physically I think D-Rose is a little bit more explosive. There’s definitely differences in their game.”

Rose's career has been hampered by injuries, and he enters the 2024-25 season as a backup for Morant and the Grizzlies.

Last season, Rose averaged 8.0 points, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game.
