New York Knicks 9 3-pointers sets 3rd best franchise record for most points in first half

The New York Knicks are putting on a show against the Brooklyn Nets tonight as they finish the first quarter with nine three-pointers. With that unbelievable shooting from beyond the arc, the Knicks ended the first period with 47 points.

Julius Randle started the spark after knocking down a tough three-pointer from the right corner against two new Nets players, Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson. Soon after, the entire team followed and came on fire from downtown. Jalen Brunson led the team in scoring in the first quarter with 16 points.

Watch as the entire team shot well from deep.

With their shooting from downtown, they were able to set another franchise record of most points in the first half. The Knicks entered halftime with 81 points. Their performance and scoring made history as it's the third most points scored in the first half in franchise history.

Can the New York Knicks make a deep playoff run?

It looks like the moves that the New York Knicks made during the offseason have paid off. Their acquisition of Brunson proved to be a great addition to the team, as the Knicks are on a path to making a return to the playoffs. They are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 36-27 record.

Last season, they didn't make the postseason and ended their season as the 11th seed in the East. The front office finally addressed their need for a decent player in the lead guard position. Due to this, the team's offense didn't focus primarily on Randle and RJ Barrett.

The Knicks are on a seven-game winning streak and have been playing excellent team basketball as of late. Even the players have played their part exceptionally well. Aside from the impact that Brunson has had, their mid-season trade to get Josh Hart was a smart move as they've added another three-and-D player to their lineup.

Making the playoffs would mean a lot to the team. Even with their upgrades, the Knicks could see themselves exiting the postseason early in the first round.

The East has strong teams like the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers. These teams are all hungry to win the Larry O'Brien trophy this season. The Knicks need more experience and firepower to compete against these teams.
