Philadelphia 76ers star guad James Harden has been impressive this season by being the ultimate facilitator. Let's take a look at what his current contract looks like.

Over the summer, Harden declined his $47.3 million player option in the final year of his four-year deal from when he was with the Houston Rockets. That made him a free agent during the offseason, and he eventually signed to stay with the Sixers on a two-year deal.

Philly and Harden agreed to a two-year deal worth $68.6 million with a player option in the second year. The Beard reportedly took a $15 million paycut in order for the Sixers organization to sign valuable role players.

Harden is averaging 21.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 10.6 assists while shooting 44.9%, including 39.4% from downtown.

Should James Harden go back to the Rockets?

There have been a number of rumors this season, and one of them is about James Harden being linked to the Rockets for another time. Harden spent nine seasons in Houston and has not had success since leaving the city. Now that he's experienced other teams and the struggle of not being able to win, there's a chance that the 10-time All-Star could return.

However, a return to the Rockets seems like an unwise decision on his part. He left the team due to the lack of success he went through over nine seasons. Going back to a team where he had incredible individual success isn't the best option for him.

Additionally, if Harden chooses to return, that'll be a huge setback in the development of the team's young core. Right now, they have incredibly talented youth who could have a high ceiling. Slowing down their development could be a problem for the team if Harden returns and stays until he retires.

For now, the best option for Harden is to try to compete with Joel Embiid and the Sixers. They have a great chance at being the top team in the Eastern Conference this season.
