What are Reggie Jackson's contract details with LA Clippers in the 2022-23 NBA season?

The LA Clippers are reportedly in the market for an upgrade at point guard, with veteran guard Reggie Jackson being heavily involved in trade rumors.

Jackson has played in 208 games over four seasons with the Clippers. He's currently in the second year of his two-year, $21.6 million contract, which he signed in 2021. However, Jackson has struggled for consistency this season. That, combined with the fact that he's now on an expiring $11.2 million deal, has made him expendable in LA.

Jackson is averaging 11.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.5 3-pointers per game on 41.6% shooting through 49 games. If he's traded, he will also receive a 15% trade bonus, per Spotrac.

However, Jackson alone will likely not be enough to net the Clippers anyone of value. So LA will likely have to package Jackson along with picks and other expendable players.

Outside of Jackson and stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, LA has six other players making between $10-17 million this season. They include Ivica Zubac, Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, Luke Kennard, Marcus Morris and Norman Powell. The Clippers also have multiple young players on affordable contracts, including Terance Mann, Amir Coffey, Jason Preston and Brandon Boston Jr.

So LA could cobble together a number of trade packages to jettison Reggie Jackson. It’s just a matter of how much they’re willing to give up to go all in on what has been a fairly mediocre team thus far. The Clippers are just 29-26 on the season and fifth in the Western Conference.

The LA Clippers have been heavily connected with three players as they look to offload Reggie Jackson. These include Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley, Miami Heat point guard Kyle Lowry and Toronto Raptors All-Star point guard Fred VanVleet. Among the three, VanVleet would almost surely be the biggest difference maker for LA.

A recent update from Sportsnet’s Michael Grange has indicated that the Clippers are still monitoring VanVleet ahead of the deadline.

“The Los Angeles Clippers are VanVleet fans and have been watching him closely,” Grange reported.

Meanwhile, other reports have suggested that the Clippers are looking for a backup center to play behind starting big man Ivica Zubac. Minnesota Timberwolves reserve center Naz Reid has been listed as an option. All things considered, it looks like it could be a busy trade deadline for LA.
