When Charles Barkley clearly showed frustration with NBA lockout guidelines: "I don't want to have s** three days in a row"

NCAA Men
NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley

While Charles Barkley was unable to win an NBA championship, he's widely regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time.

The 1998-99 NBA season, Barkley's 15th season in the league, followed a lockout and had a strenuous schedule. The league fit 50 games into 90 days, leading to plenty of back-to-back games and instances where there were games on three consecutive nights.

Barkley, who turned 36 that season, expressed his disapproval of the schedule by saying:

"I can't play three games in three nights. I can tell you that right now. I don't want to have sex three nights in a row. I definitely don't want to play three games in three nights."

Barkley stayed true to his word, as he didn't play three games in three consecutive nights at any point of the season. The Houston Rockets ended the season as the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 31-19 record, but they were 27-13 in games where Barkley started.

Led by an aging core of Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon and Scottie Pippen, the Rockets were eliminated from the postseason by the LA Lakers in four games.

Charles Barkley's excuse for running a stop sign and getting a DUI

Charles Barkley found himself in trouble in Scottsdale, Arizona, on New Year's eve in 2008, as he was pulled over for running a stop sign. Barkley, who was arrested and charged with DUI, had a unique explanation for his driving, according to the police report filed, which said:

"He told me that he ran the stop sign because he was in a hurry to pick up the girl I saw get in the passenger seat. He asked me to admit that she was 'hot'. He asked me, 'You want the truth?'

The police report added:

"When I told him I did, he said, 'I was gonna drive around the corner and get a b**w job'. He then explained that she had given him a b**w job one week earlier and said it was the best one he had ever had in his life."

Despite having a blood alcohol level of .149, nearly twice the permissible limit, Barkley attempted to negotiate his way out of the arrest. The NBA Hall of Famer reportedly told an officer that if they helped him out of the arrest, he would get a tattoo of their name.
