When Charles Barkley threatened to kill his former agent who stole his money: “I'd probably beat his a** down like a dog”

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley

While Charles Barkley cites his fallout with Michael Jordan as one of his biggest regrets, the Hall of Famer's feud with his former agent is an equally sore spot.

Throughout his NBA career, Barkley made slightly over $43.5 million, a significant amount. As the story goes, when Barkley was at Auburn, Lance Luchnick was the only perspective agent who didn't give Barkley money in hopes of earning his business. Barkley thought he was a good guy, something he calls the worst reason anybody could ever pick an agent, and picked Luchnick.

Fast forward years later, and Barkley discovered Luchnick, who was his financial advisor and agent, set him up with a number of bad business deals. In addition to investing Barkley's money poorly, he was accused of stealing money from the NBA legend.

On Dan Patrick's radio show in 2015, Barkley took aim at his former agent:

"He stole all my money. He’s a scumbag. If I see him this day, I’d blow his damn brains out. I hate that SOB. If I could have a gun, I would. I probably won’t have a gun when I see him, but I’d probably beat his ass down like a dog.
“‘'Cause that’s like the worst thing you could do (to) somebody, Dan, is steal from them. When you steal from somebody, you are saying to them, ‘I don’t respect how hard you worked for your money.’ When somebody steals from you, that’s what they’re saying.”

How much did Charles Barkley's agent steal from him?

Given that Charles Barkley continues to hold a grudge all these years later, many have wondered just how much of his $60 million net worth Luchnick allegedly stole from him. Years ago on Sirius XM, Barkley said that he had gone broke in a matter of four years at just 21 years old, losing an alleged $100 million.

During the appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show," Barkley also went into further detail about how Luchnick stole money:

“Your agent got your paycheck. He gave you an allowance, and he ‘invested’ the rest of your money. I was getting $15,000 a month allowance just to have fun with. I’m a 21-year-old kid. You can’t give me (that kind of money).
"I think I was given $15,000 allowance. That came at the first of every month, and, man, I didn’t care. He said, ‘I’m investing the rest,’ and I’m like, ‘OK.’ And after four years, I was broke, hadn’t paid taxes.”

Despite the situation being a horrible one for Sir Chuck, the Hall of Famer has managed to earn quite a bit of money for himself. Currently, his net worth is estimated at $60 million, and with his massive extension from TNT going into this season worth over $100M, Barkley is sitting pretty.
