"When the Henny calls"- NBA fans troll Tee Morant on his 'redemption' shirt as son Ja Morant makes his return to the NBA

Tee Morant, Ja Morant
Tee Morant, Ja Morant's father, is wearing a "Redemption" start watching the Houston Rockets vs Memphis Grizzlies game.

Ja Morant is back playing basketball after a nine-game absence. Morant made his return in the Memphis Grizzlies' home game against the Houston Rockets.

Morant was suspended for eight games by the NBA and then took a game off to ramp up his conditioning. He told ESPN after his controversial gun-toting video on Instagram went viral that he would show what he’s all about.

Tee Morant, the point guard’s father, came into the FedEx Forum wearing a shirt with the word “Redemption" printed across it.

Fans quickly trolled him for this:

Tee Morant was seen holding a bottle of Powerade in his hands. The giant sports drink brand recently removed Ja Morant ads after the superstar live-streamed himself holding a gun inside a Denver nightclub.

Morant publicly apologized after the Memphis Grizzlies suspended him for two games. He then sought help by going to a Florida counseling program.

While Morant was in Florida, the NBA handed him an eight-game punishment. Since he had already served more than half of those games, he was eligible to play against the Dallas Mavericks on March 20.

Morant sat out the game to improve his conditioning. He returned tonight against the Houston Rockets, coming off the bench.

The Grizzlies may monitor his load over the next few games. They will want to be extra careful with him, knowing the postseason is around the corner.

Ja Morant wants to change the narrative around him

"Redemption" might be the word Ja Morant was looking for when he was interviewed by former NBA player Jalen Rose on ESPN.

Here's what he had to say about the gun incident and what he wants to do moving forward:

"The gun wasn’t mine. It’s not who I am, I don’t condone any type of violence, but I take full responsibility for my actions. I made a bad mistake and I can see now the image that I painted over myself with my recent mistakes.
"In the future, Imma show everybody who Ja really is and what I’m about and change this narrative."

The All-Star point guard knows that his redemption will come from his actions rather than from what he says or what the people around him wear.

Another narrative that Ja Morant would like to put to bed is his lack of success. Some have called him out for talking too much without backing it up with titles.

Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies engaged the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs with some heated trash talk. Memphis went home empty-handed while the Warriors won their fourth title in eight years.

"G12" is healthy and raring to prove his detractors wrong. Time alone will tell if his "redemption" tour will be a success.
