During an interview with Playboy in 1992, Jordan shared exclusive details on his success in the league. In the interview, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard discussed his journey into the league and who his influences are. Afterward, he was asked about his thoughts on Smith.

According to Jordan, Smith has a manipulative nature. It annoyed him each time the sportswriter would add words to what he or the rest of the Bulls roster was saying.

"I can imagine some of the things being said from anger or jealousy or disappointment," Jordan said. "But I could see Sam Smith actually manipulating, putting words in their mouths, to get his meaning from the situation.
"Sam Smith says (Bill) Cartwright said I was b**ching about not getting 50 points and that everyone could have scored 20 instead. That’s the biggest lie in America."
"He really exploits certain things. I’ve heard there was a story about how (Scottie) Pippen, (Horace) Grant and I were talking about our sons’ penises. He said we spent 30 minutes debating whose son had the biggest penis. What’s the purpose of that being in the book? You know it’s kidding, so what?"

Smith was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary, "The Last Dance." He is still active as a beat writer for the Bulls.

Michael Jordan almost became the target of one of the most feared men on the planet. In the book, "Taming The Beast: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson," Eric Wilson wrote that Tyson, Jordan, Mike Ditka, Richard Dent and Don King all had dinner together when the confrontation happened.

Tyson began asking Jordan about his involvement with his ex-wife, Robin Givens. The boxer's best friend, Rory Holloway, detailed the story.

"Mike Tyson’s sitting there with his drink of choice, a Long Island tea, and when he drinks, his real feelings come out. ... I’m telling the server to water his drinks down, 'cause I see where this is going. Mike stares across the table at Michael Jordan. He says, 'Hey, man, you think I’m stupid? I know you f****d with my b***h.'
"Jordan looks like he just seen a ghost. 'I know you messed with her,' Mike says. 'You can tell me.' Jordan, it’s obvious he just wants to get up and run. He wants no part of this.

"Mike telling everyone he’s going to bust Jordan’s ass. Jordan’s dressed sharp as always, and he can’t get out of there fast enough."

Good thing it didn't end up as a fight and Jordan went home in one piece.
