Who is Molly Qerim's ex-husband, Jalen Rose? Exploring their relationship timeline and eventual divorce

Before Jalen Rose worked at ESPN along with Molly Qerim and other sports analysts, he was a 13-year NBA veteran. "Jinx" averaged 14.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists in 923 games for six teams.

Rose married Qerim in July 2018 but both called it quits three years later. In December 2021, the former NBA Most Improved Player winner posted this story on Instagram:

"After being separated for almost a year, Molly and I [Jalen Rose] have decided to go our separate ways. We [Jalen and Molly] both agree remaining friends and colleagues is the best course of action for our relationship moving forward. Please respect our privacy at this time."

There were rumors that Stephen A. Smith was the reason behind the split. Some fans alleged that Smith's flirting towards Qerim eventually ruined the relationship between the ex-couple.

Jalen Rose, however, dismissed the reports as "laughable" in an interview with GQ :

“In my personal relationship, it was laughable to me, to see [Molly Qerim] and I mutually part ways, be in accord about why we’re parting ways, and still see people speculating on why. Not only speculating — in particular saying it was because her and Stephen A. Smith had a relationship,”

The "Fab Five" member did admit that he was "bothered" by the gossip, particularly since all three of them were working together at ESPN:

"But, when it happened, it’s two ways for me to handle it as a professional: I work with him, I got love for him, and that’s my brother. I got love for her, we were friends before we were married, we just didn’t work as a couple.

I just saw her today. We cool! But for me to see the speculation and for people to assume that was why, it bothered me.”

Jalen Rose and Molly Qerim do not have kids of their own as a couple. The former NBA player, however, does have three children from a previous marriage. Neither of them asked for alimony while Qerim never even thought of demanding spousal support.

When Jalen Rose was incessantly bombarded with comments and speculations about Molly Qerim and Stephen A. Smith, he kept quiet. After the divorce was final, he explained the reason behind his silence in the same GQ interview:

“It was trending [online], [Smith] was trending, [Qerim] was trending, I was trending. It was a real thing,” Rose said. “And, like, am I about to respond to that? It gave me a real fork in the road.

But I didn’t, because I knew it wasn’t true. I would just be fueling those people. Not responding, and finally sprinkling some here and there, it made people who ran with it look less credible.

Rose, Qerim and Smith currently still work at ESPN.

Meanwhile, Rose is now with Angela Rye, who works as a special correspondent for the same sports network as the former couple.
