Consensus five-star recruit Rob Dillingham announced that he would be leaving Donda Academy. According to reports, Dillingham's next plan is to sign with Overtime Elite, a startup basketball league that Carmelo Anthony invested in last year.

The Athletic's Shams Charania confirmed Dillingham's decision to leave Donda Academy and pursue a career in Overtime Elite. The event was followed after a series of controversial issues by Donda Academy's founder, Kanye West. However, it is unclear if Dillingham's decision was related to West's controversies.

Rob Dillingham is a 6-foot-1 guard from North Carolina. In December 2021, he announced his commitment to play college basketball for NC State. Aside from the said college, he had offers from other colleges like: the Memphis Tigers, LSU Tigers, Kansas Jayhawks and Kentucky Wildcats.

After declaring his commitment to NC State, he announced his decision to decommit and re-open his recruitment process. This gave other teams a chance to secure a spot. In the end, he chose Kentucky over other colleges.

Dillingham is well accomplished despite his young age. In 2021, he was the FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship MVP after averaging 15.7 points, 6.2 assists and 3.2 steals. He also led the US to a gold finish in Mexico. Rob Dillingham is ranked the as the number one point guard in the nation, according to 247's rankings. (via BleacherReport.com)

Overtime Elite has been around as one of the best startup leagues in the US since 2021. The founders, Dan Porter and Zack Weiner, are both well-known entrepreneurs.

Future NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony became involved with the league earlier this year. With his investment, the league will be offering young high school basketball players $100,000 per year. Former NBA players Jay Williams and Pau Gasol both became involved with the league. The three of them have been named board of directors over the summer. (via Syracuse.com)

Anthony is heavily involved with Overtime. His son, Kiyan, is currently in the league as a sophomore in high school.

Rob Dillingham is joining a young league with a bright future. Just last night, rookie Dominick Barlow of the San Antonio Spurs made his NBA debut against the Toronto Raptors. So far, he's the first player from Overtime Elite to make it big for the NBA.

With Dillingham's talents, he'll be in the league in no time. Not to mention, he's joined Overtime before going to college. With the experience that he'll get from Overtime and the college scene, he could increase his draft stock and crack the top spot in next year's draft.
