Famed YouTuber and IRL streamer IShowSpeed went viral In August for jumping over a speeding sports car, similar to what Kobe Bryant did. The online personality revealed his thought process behind the death-defying stunt in his appearance at Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay" on Wednesday.
According to Speed, the idea of jumping over a car came from Bryant. In 2008, Nike did a commercial with the former LA Lakers star where he jumped over a speeding Aston Martin in a parking lot. Initially, it generated excitement about its authenticity, but it was later discovered that the stunt was a hoax.
However, that didn't stop others from trying what the late NBA star did in his commercial. This led Speed to try the stunt while doing a live stream. Surprisingly, not only did he jump over one car, but he did the stunt on two cars.

In Sharpe's show, Speed doubled down on his stunt and claimed it was genuine.
"I hate when people say when I put my life on the line, and I genuinely did it," Speed said. "I really did.
Then, the former NFL player asked the streamer if Bryant was inspired to conduct the deed by his legendary commercial. Speed acknowledged that he was motivated to do it by what the Lakers star had done. He discovered, however, that the advertisement featuring the five-time winner was fake after the stunt.
"Funny story, that's what gave me the idea but after I did it, my manager told me, 'Dude, the video was fake.'
Speed still has faith in his ability to succeed despite what he did.
"It's all about timing, I can clear [it] anytime."
His feat in August with the two sports cars wasn't the first time he did it. In July, Speed jumped over Cristiano Ronaldo's Lamborghini.
Former NBA champion had a hilarious parody of Kobe Bryant's car jump
Many have attempted it since Nike's commercial featuring Kobe Bryant jumping over a car was released. However, the attempt made by former NBA champion Kenny Smith made the 2008 MVP laugh.
TNT's "Inside the NBA" interviewed Bryant about the car commercial. The crew proudly presented the 18-time All-Star with their version of their stunt. Smith wore his "new" sneakers in the video that was displayed.
However, the final edit showed Smith didn't get to jump over the car. Instead, they showed the former Houston Rockets point guard was hilariously hit by the speeding car.
Smith's attempt made Bryant laugh and the former Lakers star joked about the sale of his new sneakers.
