Kevin Durant reacts to MVP buzz around him - "I've been there, done that... It's gonna take a lot for me to be in conversation"

Kevin Durant has put together a string of solid performances for the Brooklyn Nets this season. However, in a recent interview, the Nets superstar mentioned that being the league MVP may not be something he hopes to pursue at this point in his career.

Kevin Durant is considered one of the greatest offensive minds that basketball has ever seen.

Taking a look at the superstar's resume, Durant has achieved quite a lot over the course of his 15 year career in the NBA. With 12 All-Star selections, four scoring titles, one MVP award and two NBA titles, KD has accumulated a significant share of accolades.

Into his 16th season in the NBA, Durant continues to be a dominant force. With sustained brilliance on the offensive front, KD remains the driving force behind the Brooklyn Nets.

In light of his recent performances, Durant has to be considered in the MVP discussion. While considering the company he is in, the forward is certainly putting up the numbers to earn himself a mention alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic.

Nets fans certainly seem to have bought into the idea of having Durant enter the MVP discussion. Following a 45-point showcase against the Orlando Magic, KD earned himself MVP chants from fans at home.

But Kevin Durant doesn't seem too enamored by the idea of being the MVP. When asked about the chants and whether he wanted to be in the race for MVP, Durant said:

"Nah, not really. I've been there, done that. It's going to take a lot for me to be in that conversation. So I just want the respect from my fanbase and I want them to have a good time when they come to games. So that's - chants is how I play for the fans as long as they have a good time. So I'm not to worried about accolades."

While Durant mentioned that it would take a lot for him to be in that conversation, he is certainly putting up the numbers for the same.

With an average of 30.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists, Durant is having a tremendous season. While additionally considering the impact he has had on Brooklyn's success, there is valid reason to justify him being in the discussion.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently ranked ninth in the East with a 11-11 record. While this may not seem impressive, the team has overcome several obstacles to get to this point.

Considering the environment within the organization this year, the Nets looked like a team in absolute disarray. With the offseason drama percolating into the regular season, changes in coaching personnel and additional issues with Kyrie Irving recently, Brooklyn has faced many hurdles along the way.

While Kevin Durant was a major part of the problem in the offseason, he has managed to put things aside and simply play ball for Brooklyn. Looking at his numbers, KD is very clearly the driving force behind the Nets at the moment.

With Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving also coming into their own, the Nets look like a threatening team. With Durant leading the Nets' steady rise up the Eastern Conference ladder, Brooklyn will hope to build upon the momentum of their recent wins.
