Recent NBA rumors have indicated that OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam have an immensely high trade value at this point in time. With the Toronto Raptors star gathering attention from around the league, NBA analyst Michael Grange reported more on the matter.
The Toronto Raptors have been in a bit of a complicated position this season. After facing a grueling series of losses in the month of December, the Raptors were rumored to be on the verge of blowing it all up.
With the league setting its sights on the talented players on their roster, Toronto had a lot of tough decisions to make as they struggled to notch a win.
This time, however, Raptors star Pascal Siakam really increased his trade value with the quality of basketball he has been playing. With Siakam putting up some impressive numbers during this time, several teams have expressed interest in pursuing him in a trade.
Since then, the Raptors as a unit haven't improved a whole lot. Notching three wins in seven games since Dec. 21st, Toronto now features a 16-22 record. With their most recent loss coming at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Raptors are in an even worse position this season.
Given their current status, the Raptors may be on the verge of blowing it up or entering a rebuild. In this regard, there have been some rumors of league-wide interest in Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. However, Toronto has apparently kept a very high asking price for the two stars.
In a recent report, SportsNet's Michael Grange wrote about the asking price for Siakam and Anunoby. He wrote:
"Or maybe they go all in and consider trading Siakam and Anunoby for what would likely be massive returns of picks and young talent. 'A s—load’ was the ballpark estimate provided by one league insider."
The term used is vague in itself. However, considering the impact it could have on Toronto's state as a team, the demand for a lot is valid. Trading OG Anunoby could be a drastic measure, however, moving Siakam could see the Raptors effectively enter a rebuild.
Should the Toronto Raptors trade Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby?
The Toronto Raptors are a shadow of the team they were last season. After making a rather impressive run in the playoffs, the Raptors cut a sorry figure for themselves as they feature in the lower rung of the East.
Given their current scenario, several teams have set their sights on the Raptors. This is positive, as it does indicate some potential to make changes. With OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet being of particular interest to teams, Toronto could stand to gain a lot if they choose to enter a rebuild.
However, giving up talented pieces in the process of rebuilding could set Toronto back drastically. The commitment required to enter a rebuild could leave the Raptors in a state of limbo for a significant amount of time, and there is no guarantee that such a rebuild would be a success.
With some potential to tank for a chance to pursue Victor Wembanyama, the Raptors may consider a variety of options. However, as per some rumors, the Toronto Raptors are expected to be the first team to set off action in the trade market.
