NBA Rumors: Toronto Raptors receive offer of multiple first round picks for OG Anunoby

The Toronto Raptors may decide to trade OG Anunoby by the trade deadline. The Canadian team has already received an offer that consists of multiple first-round picks for the 6-foot-7 forward.

Anunoby is having a career year with the Raptors, but the team is caught between a rock and a hard place. They are not good enough to compete in the 2022-23 season, yet they might also be too good to tank.

However, if Masai Ujiri decides to overtool the roster and tank, OG Anunoby might be an odd man out. The forward is very good and could bring the Raptors several valuable draft picks.

According to Bruce Arthur of The Star, the Toronto Raptors have received an offer of three first-round picks for the 25-year-old forward. Reportedly, the Raptors have received this offer from at least one team.

Getting three first-round picks for OG Anunoby seems like a great deal for the Raptors, who could use these picks to rebuild. However, they have a few other valuable pieces they could get rid of by the trade deadline.

Pascal Siakam is the best player for the Toronto Raptors this season. He's averaging a career-high 25.2 points per game, but he only has one more year left on his contract. However, the Raptors could swap him for multiple draft picks as well.

The Canadian team also has Fred VanVleet, who will likely decline his Player Option for the 2023-24 season. Considering that there is a good chance that he will leave, the Raptors could swap him for either a few young players or picks.

The Raptors are currently 21-27, good enough for the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference. While they are just two games behind the final play-in spot, it is questionable if Masai Ujiri even wants his team to compete.

The team played in Tampa, Florida, during the 2020-21 season and finished with a 27-45 record, missing the playoffs. This happened just two years after they won the championship, which was very disappointing.

OG Anunoby in the 2022-23 season

OG Anunoby is having another great season with the Raptors. The 6-foot-7 forward has consistently improved in each season, and the current season is no exception.

The forward is averaging a career-high 17.4 points per game and leads the league in steals per game with 2.1.
