After being drafted first in 2012, the bar was set high for Anthony Davis. He was a highly-touted prospect and national champion at Kentucky with the potential to be a generational talent at the professional level.

Through the first decade of his career, Davis has been named an All-Star eight times, made four All-NBA teams and won a title with the LA Lakers in 2020. While we await his return from a foot injury, here are three records he achieved in his early years as a pro.

Anthony Davis hit the ground running to start his NBA career

Coming out of college, many were amazed by what Anthony Davis could do on the defensive end of the floor. In his lone season at Kentucky, he averaged nearly five blocks per game. Despite a bit of a thin frame, he managed to carry this same success to the NBA.

It did not take long for the young big man to put himself in the history books. During his rookie season, "The Brow" became the youngest player ever to record 800 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocks in less than 65 games. The second youngest to do so was Tim Duncan, who went on to become arguably the best power forward ever.

Davis had a solid rookie campaign, but did not manage to secure the Rookie of the Year award. That went to Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard.

AD joins Michael Jordan in the history books

After years of falling short in the playoffs with the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis sought a change of scenery in 2019. He eventually got his wish when the LA Lakers traded an array of draft picks and young prospects to bring in the All-Star big man. Now alongside LeBron James, expectations went through the roof.

In the NBA bubble, the star duo delivered by getting the Lakers to the finals. Despite never being on the game's biggest stage before, Anthony Davis was not phased by the moment.

AD dropped 34 and 32 points in his first two finals games, putting him in the history books as one of five players to record 30-plus points in their first two finals outings. Other notable names to do so include Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant.

Anthony Davis posts rare stat line

Part of what makes AD so lethal on the floor is his ability to impact every facet of the game. Along with the ability to score on all three levels, he is also an elite defensive talent.

This two-way dominance was on full display in December 2014 when he posted a stat line of 25 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, six steals and four blocks. The only other player to match this production in one night is Hakeem Olajuwon, and he needed double-overtime to do it.
