Giannis Antetokounmpo had his breakout year in the 2016-17 season and has since dominated the NBA. He is probably the most deserving of the Most Improved Player award in the past five years, as he has continually upgraded his game year after year.

The Greek Freak has made the All-Star team since the 2016-17 season and also won several individual awards in between, including the NBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in 2020. He has recorded 266 double-doubles since his breakout season, 40 of which came in the playoffs in the period under review.

Giannis' 50-point title-clinching game will always be one for the history books. He also added 14 rebounds and shot an incredible 17 of 19 attempts from the free-throw line.

#2 Russell Westbrook - 280

Russell Westbrook is the NBA's record holder for the most career triple-doubles with 184. As a guard, Westbrook has achieved the impossible as he holds top spot in a category that is dominated by big men.

However, he has not dominated the double-double list in the last five years. Westbrook finished the 2020-21 NBA season with the second-most double-doubles with 59, one behind Jokic. Overall, he has managed 280 double-doubles in the last five seasons.

Westbrook will hope to continue his impressive form with the LA Lakers in the new season. Although reaching these heights might be a challenge considering the presence of LeBron James, we can't put it past Brodie to chase every loose ball and make the extra pass to set up an open player.

#1 Rudy Gobert - 281

Although Rudy Gobert is nothing close to being a two-way player, his work on defense is simply outstanding. He has won the NBA DPOY three times in the last four years.

Gobert's double-double tally could have been off the charts if he had been an effective scorer. You can always count on the French man to grab 10+ boards in every game.

Regardless, his 281 double-doubles are the most in the last five years. No other NBA has been more efficient in reaching double digits on any two of the NBA's main stat lines in the last five years.
