The NBA has evolved in many ways. Some current players are more inclined to play video games on off-days and even on game days. One of the top games played in the league is Fortnite, a free-to-play Battle Royale game released by Epic Games in 2017.

Fortnite has three game modes, with Fortnite Battle Royale being the favorite among NBA players. Fortnite Battle Royale is a player-versus-player mode for up to 100 players. The game has become so popular that Epic Games formed a partnership with the NBA.

In 2021, the league announced their official partnership with Fortnite. NBA outfits were created for all 30 teams. Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young also had their own Locker Bundles that were available in the game's Item Shop.

In this article, we'll take a look at some NBA players who play Fortnite.

Gordon Hayward revealed in 2018 that he was addicted to Fornite. Hayward explained that he hated the game before giving it a chance. He became obsessed, ditching Overwatch for Fortnite.

The Charlotte Hornets star has been plagued by injuries since 2017. He would use his recovery time to play the game. Hayward even dubbed himself the "Fortnite King". He claimed he would win an All-NBA Fortnite Battle Royale.

"It would be actually really fun to have an all-NBA Fortnite match or something," Hayward wrote in a blog post in 2018. "I've been playing for a few months now, so I'm pretty confident I could come out on top. In fact, I'd almost guarantee it, and I'd be happy to take on anyone from any other sport, too."

Josh Hart thinks that he's the best Fortnite player in the NBA. Hart streams the game on Twitch for his fans to watch him play. He can lose track of time while playing the game. He once played until four in the morning on a game day, with tip-off scheduled at 1 p.m.

The veteran forward broke his left hand as a member of the LA Lakers in February 2018. He was ruled out for around a month. That didn't stop him from playing Fornite, which may or may not have been good for his recovery.

"At first, it was a couple days when I couldn't play because I had a plaster cast/splint thing on," Hart said. "I couldn't use my hand, really. I was trying to jam the controller and bend the plaster a little bit, but it didn't work for me. Now it's fully healed, so I don't have a brace. Now I'm good."

Terrence Ross streams his games on Twitch. Ross plays NBA 2K, NFL Madden and Fortnite. The former Slam Dunk champion believes he's the best Fornite player for the Orlando Magic.

Ross was a long-time Call of Duty player before switching to Fortnite. He thinks that it's more than just a game, even comparing it to having military awareness. He teamed up with SSSniperWolf at the 2018 Fortnite Battle Royale Celebrity Pro-Am.

"It's all about awareness, knowing where stuff's at," Ross said. "It's so funny because people think you take it too seriously, but it's actually a little more military than people think. Someone's coming south, west, here, there. You have to outthink all 99 people."

The former All-Star center told ESPN in a 2019 interview that Jackson is the best Fortnite player he's ever seen. Drummond revealed that Jackson plays Fornite whenever he has free time. He even plays on the team bus heading to the arena on game day.

"He's the best player I've ever seen play Fortnite," Drummond said. "I'm terrible at it, but I still play. He gets me wins, so it looks good on my part, but I don't have to do anything. He plays any chance he gets. Anytime he's not doing anything, he's probably playing. I'm pretty sure if I call him right now, he'll be playing."
