Allen Iverson is one of the greatest and most beloved basketball players of all-time. Off the court, the NBA Hall of Famer is married to his high school sweetheart, Tawanna Turner.
Iverson and Turner first began dating when they were just 16 years old. The couple were married at The Mansion on Main Street in the summer of 2001, with Iverson fresh off of winning the NBA MVP award and making an appearance in the NBA Finals. Iverson and his wife share five children together.
Things have not always been smooth for the couple. In 2002, Iverson allegedly kicked her out of the house during an argument. Additionally, in 2013, the couple divorced. However, within less than a month of the divorce being finalized, they were back together. While it is unclear if they have remarried, the couple remain together nearly a decade later.

Allen Iverson thanks his wife in Hall of Fame speech
Allen Iverson is known for his flashy style of play, his elite level scoring, and his otherworldly ball-handling ability. He is widely attributed with popularizing cornrows, tattoos, and arm sleeves within the NBA. The 11-time All-Star was a fan favorite and a cultural icon.
Unsurprisingly, Iverson, whose career scoring average of 26.7 points per game ranks fifth among retired players, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in the first year that he was eligible. The four-time scoring champion gave one of, if not the, most memorable speeches in the history of the ceremony.
Iverson seemingly thanked everyone he has crossed paths with in his emotional speech. Perhaps the most touching tribute came to his wife, Tawanna, as Iverson stated:
“This is one of those last but not least things. My number one person in the world, hands down. Tawanna Iverson. Twenty-four years. Ups. Downs. But real love. I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me."
He continued:
"Not just my career, yeah obviously you enabled me to go to work and you took care of home, but for loving me the way you do and caring about what type of person I am and what type of person that I need to be to set an example for our babies."
Iverson concluded by adding:
"Just the best of me. I love you so much. I'm looking forward to spending two more decades with you. I want you to be proud of yourself. I want you to walk around and understand that you are a Hall of Famer.”
