While many predicted that the OKC Thunder wouldn't have a very successful season, Gilgeous-Alexander seems hell-bent on having himself a year. The running favorite for the NBA's Most Improved Player award is currently averaging career highs across the board.

With no signs of slowing down and more attention on him, Gilgeous-Alexander's personal life has been thrust into the spotlight. With that have come questions about his longtime girlfriend, Hailee Summers, who has been dating the hooper since 2016. In addition to being Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's girlfriend, she has some pretty impressive accolades herself.

While Gilgeous-Alexander was proving himself on the court, Hailee Summers was proving herself to be one of the best collegiate soccer players in the U.S. After the pair both moved to the United States for collegiate sports, Summers played for the University of Albany from 2017-2021. During that time, Gilgeous-Alexander's girlfriend also served as captain for two years.

After Gilgeous-Alexander declared for the draft, he was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 11th pick in 2018. On draft night, Gilgeous-Alexander was then traded to the LA Clippers for Miles Bridges and two future second-round picks. Over the course of the 2018 NBA Summer League, Gilgeous-Alexander quickly wowed front-office members when he averaged 19.0 points per game and 4.0 assists per game to go along with 2.3 steals per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. It marked the beginning of an impressive run by the young guard, which also saw him average impressive numbers come playoff time.

As a rookie, Gilgeous-Alexander helped the Clippers fight against the Golden State Warriors in the first round in a six-game series they ultimately lost. With 13.7 ppg, he also managed to shoot 50.0% from the 3-point line, while averaging a 46.7% field-goal percentage. The following year, he managed to improve on his regular-season averages in his first year with the OKC Thunder.

Putting talks of a sophomore slump to rest, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 19.0 ppg to go along with 5.9 rpg. When it came playoff time, Gilgeous-Alexander's 16.3 ppg helped the Thunder fight seven games with the Houston Rockets in a series they lost. Despite being eliminated from the playoffs, Gilgeous-Alexander put the rest of the league on notice.

With a strong square around him, he was poised to carve up defenses for many years to come. Now in his fifth year in the league, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging a career-high 31.2 ppg. When Chet Holmgren returns to the court next season, he, SGA, and Josh Giddey seem poised to make some waves.
