Isiah Thomas points out Lakers president’s inability to make precise decisions for the team: “You never say to the player ‘ok it’s your decision’”

The LA Lakers organization is currently trying to figure out how they can right their ship and salvage this season. After appointing Darvin Ham head coach and acquiring Patrick Beverley this offseason, there seemed to be a general sentiment of optimism. When the season started, Los Angeles got off to a slow start, losing five straight games before finally securing a win.

Unfortunately for the team, since going on a brief two-game win streak, they have lost five straight games. The horrendous 2-10 record puts the team tied with the Houston Rockets for the worst record in the entire league. Considering the fact that Russell Westbrook has proven that he isn't what's wrong with the team, many are trying to figure out what is.

As analysts have continued to point out, the team is having a historically bad season from beyond the arc. Over the course of 12 games played, Los Angeles have shot worse than every other team from three. That, combined with lingering injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, has spelled disaster for the franchise.

The way Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas sees things, Los Angeles' front office made a critical error long before the start of this season.

"I know when I was sitting in the president's chair, running a team ... the player can always make suggestions. But you never say to the player, 'Ok, it's your decision.' And it appears what has happened in LA is that they acquiesced and said to the player, 'Ok, it's your decision. We'll do what you want us to do.'"

Thomas' comments came during a recent episode of "Know Mercy" with Stephen A. Smith. During the course of the podcast Thomas looked to shed some light on the state of the Lakers several weeks into the season. The LA Lakers' lingering injuries

Although the Lakers have been struggling offensively this season, they have managed to post one of the best defensive ratings in the league. Given that, head coach Darvin Ham has remained adamant that the team just needs more time to build chemistry on the floor.

One thing that may continue to hinder the team going forward is lingering injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Although Davis looked great early in the season, he has since shown visible discomfort mid-game. While he has continued to play, Davis can occasionally be seen grimacing in pain and holding his back.

At the same time, LeBron James is currently battling a foot injury. As the season has progressed James has been forced to miss games as a result of the nagging injury. It's something that has been a recurring theme over the course of James' stint with the Lakers. Aside from the team's championship season, James has repeatedly played in just 50 games per season, a number far below his career average.

If the Lakers want to turn things around and make the playoffs, the team needs to address their perimeter shooting problems and remain healthy.
