Dan Lanning is the head coach of the Oregon Ducks football team, a position he has held since December 2021. He was a linebacker for the William Jewell Cardinals from 2004-2007. Lanning hails from Missouri, and during his time at Georgia, he was a finalist twice for the Broyles Award, for being the nation's top assistant coach. Lanning was hired as Oregon's 35th head coach. He spent four seasons at the University of Georgia as a defensive coordinator and an outside linebacker coach. Lanning began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh in 2011, and he also worked in assistant coaching positions at Arizona State, Sam Houston State, Alabama, Memphis, and Georgia.

Before committing to Oregon, Lanning served as Georgia's defensive coordinator and guided the team to the 2022 national championship. His defensive players were ranked among the top units in the nation each year. Lanning also coached Georgia to three Eastern Division Championships and appeared in 10 bowl games throughout his coaching career.
