Sebastian Castro is an American safety who concluded his six-year college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2024. Sebastian Castro attended Harold L. Richards High School, where he played as both quarterback and defensive back. His senior season was remarkable as he recorded 95 total tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and six interceptions. His performance earned him recognition as Player of the Year by The Reporter and Daily Southtown, along with first-team All-State honors from the Champaign News-Gazette during both his junior and senior years. Despite receiving offers from several colleges, including Iowa State and Syracuse, Castro committed to the University of Iowa on April 25, 2018.

Castro's journey at Iowa began with a redshirt year in 2019, followed by limited playing time during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season. It wasn't until the 2021 season that he began to make an impact, appearing in all 14 games but recording only six tackles. In 2022, Castro tallied 33 tackles, a sack, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles. His breakthrough moment came in September 2023 during a game against Iowa State, where he recorded his first career interception, that he returned for a 30-yard touchdown. Castro concluded his collegiate career with 163 combo tackles, two sacks, and four interceptions while playing in 53 games (via Sports Reference).
