Tyler Buchner is a quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Bucher began his football prep career at the Bishops School where he played lacrosse besides football. During his high school career, he was awarded the 2019 Silver Pigskin Award, given to the most outstanding player in San Diego County, and was named the 2020 Preseason First Team All-American by MaxPreps. Bucher was given an invitation to play in the 2021 Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando but was canceled. At the end of his high school career, he was rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. Tyler Buchner joined the Fighting Irish in 2024 after playing a lone season with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2023. He sustained a shouldеr injury during Notre Dame's loss to Marshall on September 10, 2022, which caused him to miss the rеmainder of the 2022 regular season. Previously in 2021, he spent his first year with the Crimson Tide as a backup to Jack Coan where he played 10 games.
Tyler Buchner returned to the field for Notre Dame's victory against South Carolina in the 2022 Gator Bowl. His performance in the game earned him the honor of being named the Gator Bowl MVP for 2022. As of the 2024 season, Buchner played on special teams for the Fighting Irish, where he ran a 23-yard pass against USC. Against Georgia Tech, he completed a four-yard rush.
